Time for Tea is a small collection of family recipes, all tried and true. Whether it was a family birthday party, a church fete or a school lunch stall these old favourites were trotted out time and time again. They were the staples of our childhood, and rarely was there a deviation. If I am making one of these treats, I always taste the mixture before cooking, if it tastes the same as Mum’s did when I was a child, I know it’s right and will continue – if it doesn’t, the mixture gets thrown away and I start again. No good wasting anymore time if you know it isn’t right. What makes these recipes so special is that they were all made with love, often in a hurry or at the last minute, but always with love – add that when making them and you won’t go wrong.
